The Emperors New Groove

The Emperors New Groove is a disney movie that is about and emperor who is turned into a llama. He has to find his way back to the castle, with the help of a very nice villager (Pacha). However, emperor Kusco is not a nice person and wants to destroy Pacha's village for a summer home. Lastly, he is also being chased by Ezma, whom he fired because she was trying to take the emperors position and she wants to kill him.

The Emperors New Groove was ahead of its time. It was made in 2000, which was around the time of many other popular animation studios. The Emperors New Groove doesn't show "true love" or unrealistic societal expectations. The overall morals of the movie is to be nice to one another. When you are mean, you end up alone and unhappy. Being nice to others not only makes you happy but it also makes others. This is a very important lesson for all kids to learn, instead of turning to movies that inspire women to find a man to save them or how a mans purpose in life is to help a women, because it is not true.

Another important issue that is shown in The Emperors New Groove is race and body image. All of the characters are different sizes and shapes. Ezma is super skinny while Pacha is a very big. It doesn't specifically state what location it is in but since it is an empire, it looks like it would take place in the Middle East. They display this by the color of the characters skin and what the mountains and Area look like. Disney does not show the usually skinny, white, beautiful girl who is saved by the pretty, tall, white man. But it is also a movie for kids that I might be reading to much into. The Emperors New Groove is my all time favorite movie because it is just hilarious.

  1. I agree with what you said about the message behind the movie being that we have to have compassion towards each other. I also think that this movie is really good as well. Especially because its just a comedy that doesn't have anything to do with a distressed woman being saved by a heroic man.
